2019 This package is mostly the map elements made for Crystal Hunters. The original designer showed me examples of League of legend maps, Clash Royale, isometric and 3d rendered. As a 2d Artist I had to choose to either make it all in 3d, which is not my trade or fake the 3d, which is tons of extra work. So I tried a few things out here.
Crystal Hunters is a discontinued game concept I worked on for 9 months with a developer, so it was just the two of us and we had a designer help us in the end with playtesting. We also had an investor and math specialist for the supporting parts.
The team focused on getting a MVP as soon as possible. But through many playtests we just constantly changed the design. We started Isometric, but for me that was a lot of extra work animating, so changed to flat 2d. I also changed the art to be more appealing to the age group, focusing more on 6-7 years old.
Content made was: maps, animated units, unit designs, game play, infinite amount of ui iterations, user flow, lore and race design, world building, props, rewardsystem, particles and effects, feedback effects, minigame ideas and assets/animations.
